Q: heifers
we moved our heifers and steers to a new pasture about a month ago. Now two of them have died in the last week. They look dehydrated and will hang back from the rest of the herd, and then the next day they are dead. Could it be poisonous weeds? Or something else?

A: heifers
You need to get a Vet out and have some blood/toxicology tests ran immediately, you may be in danger of losing your entire herd. It is possible that you have some toxic plants/weeds or possibly the water supply is contaminated. There may even be a venomous snake or spider they had the misfortune to stumble upon..
It really isn't possible for us to do more than guess what could have killed your heifers. A Vet, of course, will be able to find the exact cause thru post-mortum examination if necessary.
At the very least, some tests ran on your remaining herd could determine if they are also in danger of dying as well.. Please let us know how things turn out...
